SDG Engineering and Dr. Tom Iseley, P.E

Dr. Iseley—well-respected and highly trained individual who is heavily involved in the engineering field—has possessed an enduring work relationship that not only has achieved many accomplishments in the past but also currently seeks opportunities to support and expand the growth of the asset management field. This alliance was conceived during Mr. Wright’s training in asset management. Requiring assistance, Mr. Wright solicited aid through a support email provided on the CTAM training site. Dr. Iseley received Mr. Wright’s appeal. In response to the email, they talked over the phone and immediately began a friendship.

This phone conversation later precipitated a face to face meeting where Mr. Wright and Dr. Iseley established a professional relationship that persists in benefiting the engineering community. Dr. Iseley and Mr. Wright’s first jointed endeavor—along with other professionals from the water and wastewater industry—was in developing CTAM course 200 to augment the scope and applicability of asset management. During the composition of this course, Mr. Wright was engaged in an asset management project with the town of Spindale, North Carolina. He, Dr. Iseley, and the CTAM team utilized this project as a crucible for the course. Its success induced the continued collaboration of Mr. Wright, Dr. Iseley, and the CTAM team into orchestrating the CTAM 300 and 400 level courses. Furthermore, Dr. Iseley and his Trenchless Technology Center—an “Industry University Government Cooperative Research Center” founded by Dr. Iseley and affiliated with Louisiana Tech University—aspire to encourage additional association with SDG Engineering in an effort to expand the flourishing field of asset management (Iseley).

Such concepts currently under consideration according to Dr. Iseley are: creating more CTAM courses, doing research, developing specific asset management tools and programs, and inciting and taking advantage of opportunities in the area of asset management (Iseley). Implied by their past cooperation and prospective plans together, SDG Engineering and Dr. Iseley maintain a close working partnership focused on stimulating awareness of asset management.
